	Installation and operating instructions: Landing lights have been designed with ease of installation as a primary objective. In order for you to benefit the most it’s important that you follow these simple installation steps and instructions. Before making any permanent installation, lay out all the lights in their appropriate locations in order that you can test the light output and re-arrange as necessary. Bear in mind the following: • The Controller and power supply MUST be indoors. • The controller needs to be within reach of a power outlet • If you wish to use the smoke alarm activation, the controller needs to be as close as possible to the smoke alarm Each light has a flat (0.1mm) cable 6 meters in length that is both strong and flexible. It is possible to install the lights with nothing more than just the supplied tape or adhesive gasket. If required (outside on wood for example) the screw holes can be revealed by pushing a biro into the back of the housing holes and then screwed to the surface using appropriate screws. The Lights themselves are safe, extra low voltage, cool to the touch designs that can be safely used indoors or out up to a depth of 1 meter in water. Junction boxes with up to seven outputs are available in order to increase the number of lights connected to any one controller circuit. These can be linked together to allow the installation of a maximum of ten lights on any one controller output, any more than this and the light output begins to suffer. The junction boxes can be ‘snapped’ down to any size. By linking multiple cables and junction boxes the lights can be positioned up to 16 meters away from a controller without output suffering. When installing the lights on a flat surface on which you wish to stick the cable, it is often easier to stick the tape to the surface and then carefully stretch and lay the cable over the top working from the light down to the floor.

Functions:
(A) By using a small pen or screw driver rotate the sensitivity of the smoke alarm detection. It must be stated that this is an unapproved feature meaning don’t rely on this if your house is burning down as if it’s an electrical fire there will be no power with which to turn on the lights! When activated the controller ‘listens’ out for the high pitched alarm that most common smoke alarms emit. The lights will come on at full brightness until you next activate the remote or push the I/O button.

Keep in mind that the controller needs to be away from other similar sources of sounds such as telephones etc. Of course if you are installing the lights on your decking it’s unlikely you will be using this feature

(B) Battery Back Up: when the optional battery back up is connected, any power failure will immediately turn on the lights at 75% power.

(C) Switch Input: This is an optional input – when the contacts are closed the lights will come on at 75% brightness. This can be used to connect the controllers together so that in the event of activation in an area in which there is one controller, they can all be activated.

(D) Auxiliary Output: If you already have 12volt led lights installed and want to control them in addition to the landing lights, here is where you connect them.

(E) Landing Light Sockets: Make sure that the landing light cables shinny contacts are facing UP when you insert the cable.

(F) Power In: only our approved PSUs must be used. We have two available, a smaller one supplied with the kits can operate up to 20 lights and the larger optional supply will operate up to 60. In the event of an over load, the controller automatically turns the power off.

(G) Learn: press once to initiate programming new remotes; just push each remote once in turn

(H) Power LED: indicates power in status

(I) Light Output: indicates the brightness/output of the controller

(J) Power On/Off/Dimmer override: Push briefly for on or off, hold down to dim the lights up/down

Transmitter:
Simply push briefly for on or off. Hold down to dim the lights up or down. The BLUE led indicates operation. If the range decreases, return to us for free replacement.

During installation it is wise to test the remote in the most likely to be used locations. Buildings with very thick walls can limit performance.


	Installation The Landing Lights have been cleverly designed to allow installation without the use for any tools. However, careful planning is recommended. Always layout the lights and test their operation so that you can be sure that you are achieving their optimum. How many lights can be connected? A maximum of 20 lights can be fitted with the standard PSU and a maximum of 60 with the high power version The lights ‘go off’ when adjusting the brightness up. This is the overload protection feature. If there is a short circuit or other fault the RX1 will sense this and turn the lights off. Try unplugging the lights one at a time to detect a faulty unit. If fault persists, contact the LLC How does the remote control work? Simply push the button on the remote or the power button on the RX1 briefly to turn the lights on and off or keep the button depressed to gradually increase/decrease the brightness. How do I plug the lights in to the controller? The BLUE tab must face up when the cable is pushed in to the connector Smoke alarm activation. This feature is in no way intended to be a failsafe device. Do not rely on this function alone. The RX1 has the ability to ‘listen’ for most common smoke alarms. To activate the function, push a small pen in to the slot and rotate the control ‘Click’. The sensitivity is adjusted by trial and error. Maximum range is determined by the sensitivity and location of the RX1. For best performance locate the RX1 directly below the alarm.When activated the lights will automatically come on. Use the button to turn them off again. Where can I fit the lights? They can be installed almost anywhere! The lights are IP68 rated and are powered by only 10 volts which means that they are safe to use in up to a meter of water!
